WHY LUDIYA ?
Women and children of Ludiya
Ø It is a severely damaged interior village near the Indo-Pak border.
Ø Different communities live side by side, an example of Communal Harmony.
Ø The Harijan community had contemplated migration due to insecurity and poverty.
Our presence has curbed that.
Ø Almost 90% of Ludiya’s cement concrete structures are completely destroyed.
Since only Bhungas remained intact, there is ample scope to revive the rich traditional
dwellings.
Ø Local craft in embroidery and wood work abundantly prevalent.
Ø Market dependent on tourism. There is a need to set up training/marketing
facilities to enhance the local economy.
Ø People are willing to work hard and have shown self respect.
Ø The area often experiences severe droughts, which affect the local
economy of animal husbandry and farming. Water management will help
to alleviated these problems. Construction of check dam will provide long
term relief.
Ø No shortage of land.
Ø There is a need to implement medical facilities to improve general health of
the villagers. Several cases of tuberculosis are found in LUDIYA.
Ø Education is very poor (95% drop out rate). Properly managed
Anganwadis/Schools will change the development process on a large scale.
Hence, There is scope to carry out rehabilitation & development simultaneously
in varied fields.
