Welfare for Women

Various Food Grains being distributed to needy women

Training
Women have a great potential, however this is not being explored at present. Women are expert in tailoring, stitching, embroidery, paper meshi work, glass painting, and so much more. Manav Sadhna conducts periodic seminars and classes for these poor women to learn these various crafts, and develop some skills for supplementary income. To date, several hundred women have been trained at Gandhi Ashram and are actively working today making these various handicraft items.

Anna Daan
Manav Sadhna has a project, which involves widows. These women, both young and old, have lost their husbands through a variety of reasons, have no bread earner at home. Most days they do not get two meals. Others go days without eating. These women are too ashamed to ask for help, and feel that their social status will be damaged if they seek assistance.

Manav Sadhna has involved 150 of its friends and families, who donate a handful of   wheat flour daily, into a special container we provide. Each month the flour is collected and distributed to the families. In addition to this wheat, grains and rice are also collected and given to these very appreciative women.

Seminars
The social status of women in countries like India is still very backward in many respects. Many of these rural and slum women are illiterate, uneducated, and often times kept in the ‘dark’ by their husbands and family members. Thus, Manav Sadhna has focused an effort to raise the welfare of these women. With the help of the Gujarat Women Economic Development Board, MS has conducted several seminars that teach women their basic human rights, overall awareness, and various income generating programs for women. In separate seminars, Manav Sadhna has focused on issues of family planning and health.
